The Mission of the Groton-Dunstable Regional Schools
The Groton-Dunstable Regional School District, in cooperation with the parents and the community, is committed to providing the best possible education for each student. It is our responsibility to promote in each child a spirit of inquiry and to instill a self-sustaining desire for continuous growth and service to self, family and community.
Dear Parents:
Henry Ford, the founder of the Ford Motor Company, was driven by a simple belief, “If everyone is moving forward together, then success takes care of itself.” We, at Groton-Dunstable Regional Schools, have a similar vision. Embedded in our definition of success is a partnership with you and the greater community.
Caring for and educating your children is a responsibility we do not take lightly. We know that you give us your most precious gift(s) each day, and we educate them as such. I am a parent myself. My eldest is starting his junior year in college, my middle begins a new chapter as a freshman in high school, and my youngest is starting eighth grade. I am sentimental about how quickly these precious years fly by.
Your children, who become our children, are central to every decision we make. We write curriculum so we can challenge and engage them, teach them to think critically, and lead lives of integrity. We encourage the use of social media and our web space to connect with you more frequently, so you can support your children at home. No detail goes unnoticed; we wax and polish floors and desks in each building because your kids deserve a physical space that encourages learning and communicates pride in our district.
In the spirit of moving forward, we have begun the process of developing a district strategy, or a plan of action, that will allow us to continue our work with your children. This strategy will define those objectives and initiatives that will drive our work over the next five years. The strategic objectives will be small in number but large in scope. We will work hard to hear your voices and articulate them throughout this strategy development. We hope you will take advantage of the surveys and forums to give us your thoughts and opinions on this important task. More information about this process will be coming out shortly.
In closing, I would like to publicly thank both towns for their support this past spring to make our district financially solvent for the coming school year. Without you, we could not achieve our mission to provide the best education possible for our children. You are an integral part of our district, and I wanted to recognize that as we begin another exciting school year.
Most Sincerely,
Dr. Kristan Rodriguez
